Changes

  • Adds incremental private metadata sync using durable cursors. Interrupted requests and expired cursors preserve pending edits and reconcile safely. Compatible servers without the delta endpoint continue to use full snapshots.
  • Keeps unconfirmed group adoption and curator choices when scrolling away and back.
  • Includes the updater, device collections, local-media safeguards and metered-network controls from builds 39 and 40.

Installation and updates

  1. If PitchPlay is already installed, use Settings → Create Backup, save the backup outside the app, and keep it until your library has been checked after the update.
  2. Download the single .apk attachment above. No ZIP extraction or split-APK installer is needed for this release.
  3. Open the downloaded APK. If Android requests permission, allow installation from the browser or Files app you are using. Setting names vary by device; you can turn that permission off afterward.
  4. For a compatible existing installation, accept Android’s update prompt. Keep the existing app installed and do not clear its data. Open PitchPlay afterward and check your library and saved settings.

See installation and troubleshooting instructions.

Back up before upgrading. Updates from build 33 or earlier migrate the library database from Room schema 7 to 8. Use Settings → Create Backup, save the JSON outside the app, and retain a verified full media/database recovery copy. Keep the existing app installed; do not clear its storage. An older APK is not a schema-safe rollback.

This signed, non-debuggable APK is for Android 8.0+ arm64-v8a devices. The current physical acceptance targets are Pixel 10a and Samsung SM-X920. Pixel 9a and PitchCar remain outside this validation round. Build 27 lacks the new HTTPS updater and needs a normal signed installation/bootstrap first. Legacy LAN APK delivery is retained; account-linked devices restrict LAN exchange to explicitly selected, verified media.

If installation fails, keep your existing app and backup. Check that the download completed, that your device supports arm64 apps, and that you have storage available. An older version or a different signing certificate can prevent an update. Ask Matt to check the installed version and signer; do not uninstall to work around the error. A mismatched installation needs a separately tested backup/restore migration before any removal.

Known issues and validation

The known minor playback-speed audio quality and video timing issues remain tracked. Production deployment of the new delta endpoint is pending; snapshot fallback remains available. Build 41 physical checks on Pixel 10a and Samsung SM-X920 are pending. Build 39 passed owner-device library/media preservation and Matt reported no smoke-test failures.

Signed arm64-only, non-debuggable package validated against the pinned beta signer and published build 40; release build/lint passed. All 154 JVM tests passed. Delta integration, 18 personal Room cases and two group-screen scroll regressions passed. Actual signed build40→41 installation on a fresh emulator preserved three pending-work states and their metadata/media. Slow-transfer playback progressed normally with responsive pause/resume. Emulator results do not establish audible quality or physical-device acceptance.
