Changes

  • Fixes manual history, enrollment, recovery-review and group requests that could bypass Allow metadata on metered networks. Each metadata request now rechecks the connection preference.
  • Waiting for an allowed connection preserves cached previews and exact queued group actions; it does not turn them into conflicts. Manual work remains available when automatic sync is switched off.
  • Includes the updater, device collections and safe local-media removal introduced in build 39.

Installation and updates

  1. If PitchPlay is already installed, use Settings → Create Backup, save the backup outside the app, and keep it until your library has been checked after the update.
  2. Download the single .apk attachment above. No ZIP extraction or split-APK installer is needed for this release.
  3. Open the downloaded APK. If Android requests permission, allow installation from the browser or Files app you are using. Setting names vary by device; you can turn that permission off afterward.
  4. For a compatible existing installation, accept Android’s update prompt. Keep the existing app installed and do not clear its data. Open PitchPlay afterward and check your library and saved settings.

See installation and troubleshooting instructions.

Back up before upgrading. Updates from build 33 or earlier migrate the library database from Room schema 7 to 8. Use Settings → Create Backup, save the JSON outside the app, and retain a verified full media/database recovery copy. Keep the existing app installed; do not clear its storage. An older APK is not a schema-safe rollback.

This signed, non-debuggable APK is for Android 8.0+ arm64-v8a devices. The current physical acceptance targets are Pixel 10a and Samsung SM-X920. Pixel 9a and PitchCar remain outside this validation round. Build 27 lacks the new HTTPS updater and needs a normal signed installation/bootstrap first. Legacy LAN APK delivery is retained; account-linked devices restrict LAN exchange to explicitly selected, verified media.

If installation fails, keep your existing app and backup. Check that the download completed, that your device supports arm64 apps, and that you have storage available. An older version or a different signing certificate can prevent an update. Ask Matt to check the installed version and signer; do not uninstall to work around the error. A mismatched installation needs a separately tested backup/restore migration before any removal.

Known issues and validation

Self-hosted sync acceptance remains in progress. The previously reported minor playback-speed audio quality and video timing issues remain tracked. Build 39 passed signed in-app upgrade and complete library/media preservation checks on Pixel 10a and SM-X920; Matt reported no failures in his smoke checks. Those results are build-39 evidence, not a claim that build 40 has already passed physical checks.

The exact build 40 APK passed package, pinned-signature, arm64-only, non-debuggable and increasing-version checks against published build 39. Release build and lint passed. Eight focused emulator tests passed for metadata network policy and durable group queue; all 262 source inventory hashes matched the signed build checkout. Build 40 physical installation remains pending; build 39 owner-device preservation and smoke checks are recorded separately.
