Enter Pairing Mode
First, start with your headphones powered off. Enter pairing mode by pressing and holding Volume+ for 5-7 seconds. Your headset will turn on (continue holding the button), and the LED light will flash red and blue. Voice prompter Audrey will say “pairing” indicating pairing mode. Once you’re in pairing mode, access the Bluetooth settings on your device and select your headphones from the list of options.
Multipoint Pairing
The AfterShokz OpenComm headset supports multipoint pairing, allowing you to connect it to both your Android phone and MacBook simultaneously. This feature enables seamless switching between devices, such as taking a call on your phone while listening to music on your MacBook.
To set up multipoint pairing:
- Enter Pairing Mode:
- Start with the headset powered off.
- Press and hold the volume+ button until the LED flashes red and blue, and you hear “pairing.”
- Enable Multipoint Pairing:
- Press and hold both the multifunction button and volume+ button for 2-3 seconds.
- You should hear “Multipoint Enabled.”
- Pair with the First Device (e.g., Android Phone):
- On your phone’s Bluetooth settings, select the OpenComm headset to pair.
- Once connected, turn off the headset.
- Pair with the Second Device (e.g., MacBook):
- Repeat the pairing process: turn on the headset into pairing mode.
- On your MacBook’s Bluetooth settings, select the OpenComm headset to pair.
- Finalize the Connection:
- Turn off the headset once more.
- When you power it back on, it should connect to both devices automatically.
Please note that while multipoint pairing allows for connections to two devices, audio can only be received from one device at a time. For instance, if you’re listening to music on your MacBook and a call comes in on your Android phone, the headset will switch to the phone.
